Pre School/ Pre Kindergarten
Toddler Class

For children in the Toddler program, we begin the day at 9 am and conclude at 2:30 pm.

While Toddlers also have a Montessori work period, it is not as rigorous as the Primary program. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem-solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination.

Rest/nap time for this age group is right after lunchtime and lasts about two hours.

Whilst snacks are provided for the morning and afternoon, your child is expected to bring their lunch every day.

Outcomes

The Montessori teaching philosophy provides many benefits to preschoolers. Some of these are:

  • The opportunity for growth in all aspects

  • Prepares them for Kindergarten

  • Encourages social and emotional development

  • Teaches them to begin making independent choices

  • Promotes language and analytical/cognitive skills

  • Assists in developing gross and fine motor skills

The Montessori House of Children is committed to providing a prepared Montessori environment in which a child can freely and naturally realize his or her fullest potential

The Montessori Method

Our educational program is founded on the philosophy of Italian physician and educator, Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori was the first woman to receive a medical degree from the University of Rome. She devoted her life’s work to the observation of young children and their learning. Her Montessori preschool method was created after she worked with children for over 40 years. The Montessori method is known and practiced throughout the world and is well respected.
